Crime Watch Meeting Minutes: September 2021

On September, 9th, 2021 the Neighbors of East Village held our first revamped crime watch meeting and were joined by two of our Dallas Police Department beat officers.

Here are some of the key highlights of the meetings:

Area Crime Report

  • Highest crime in the area is theft from motor vehicles.

  • Make sure to report any suspicious activity to the Police.

  • Most break-ins happen at Apartment Complexes but they park nearby and walk-in.

  • Don't forget DPD's Lock, Take and Hide program

  • Lock your vehicle

  • Take valuables with you

  • Hide items that you can't take with you inside your trunk or elsewhere

  • Two recent violent attacks in Deep Ellum at night so be extra aware in that area

  • Alexander Courts:

  • Concerns were voiced from multiple members about the Alexander Courts and what can be done.

  • DPD is going to go by on 9/10/21 and see if they want a criminal trespass order

  • Next NOEV Volunteer Day (October 16th) going to focus on that area to help clean up that part of the neighborhood.

  • If we want a Temporary Police Tower in the area put up we will need to request one from our Neighborhood officers. The Safety and Welfare Chair will request this from our officers.

Here is the crime report summary for our area for the period ending 9-9-2021
